Mental Health in Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Patients
Thie piece was part of my adult psychopathology class; we each chose a topic and condition to analyze and research. We also proposed solutions to the issue we researched. This piece explores the relationship between chronic physical illness and mental health, focusing on individuals living with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Drawing from both research and personal experience, I examine how the daily realities of managing a chronic condition, such as pain, uncertainty, and medical challenges, can significantly impact emotional well-being. The project highlights common psychological effects, including anxiety, isolation, and frustration, while also emphasizing the importance of recognition and support for patients whose experiences are often overlooked. In addition to analyzing these connections, I reflect on how research can better account for the complexity of living with chronic illness, advocating for more inclusive and representative approaches within psychological studies.
