For my psychology major, I chose the whale shark as its symbol because of its gentle and intelligent nature. Throughout my portfolio, I used different species of sharks to represent each of my majors and minors, allowing me to connect my academic interests with my personal appreciation for these animals. The whale shark reflects the core of psychology, an effort to understand behavior, thought, and emotion with care and depth. Its calm presence and quiet strength mirror the patience and empathy required to study the human mind. Like psychology itself, the whale shark represents a balance between curiosity and compassion, emphasizing observation, understanding, and a deeper awareness of others.
